My 'Tree of light' sculpture installed in the newly refurbished Baby Loss Memorial Garden at the Bolton Royal NHS Hospital.
The main sculpture is constructed from Bronze resin and features a tree of life, which at the top, morphs into hands of adults and different ages of children in open gesture.
The roots are set apart at the base so that pebbles dedicated to lost babies can be placed at the base.
A major feature of the sculpture is a crystal clear inverted teardrop globe. This has a butterfly within made of a special light refractive rainbow material and casts different colours from different angles as the sun moves around the garden.
Most importantly looking through the globe the world is seen up-side-down, which could be interpreted as reflecting our turbulent feelings of grief.
